Single & The City

In efforts to change things up a bit, and to also not turn my precious column into a monthly bitter rant on the ups & downs, ins & outs of being single, I am going to share some tips, advice, and commentary from outside sources on topics relating to singles! Fun, right!?! (Should’ve thought of this a few months ago instead of boring you with MY single woes, haha). So my guess is if you are single, you don’t want to be FOREVER?! If you do… well, no comment… I found an article that points out 6 powerful signs that reveal if the person you are with never plans to propose or marry you. (Hardcore huh?!) Let’s get straight to the punch!

To help you get to the truth quickly, here are six very strong signs that indicate that your man will never propose marriage to you:

1. He doesn’t seem interested in attending weddings when both of you are invited. In fact he doesn’t even like to watch a wedding ceremony on television. Now, most men are not exactly jumping up and down to pick out flowers or decorations but most are not opposed to attending weddings. If your man shows absolutely no interest in getting married at all, he might never propose to you.

2. He never wants to discuss marriage or the idea of starting a family. If he does discuss it, he will make remarks about how it’s a trap to chain men down or he will say that marriage is an outdated concept.

3. He is not religious. Men who are not religious generally see marriage as a church ceremony that they want no part in. Men like this often see marriage ceremonies as ancient rituals that have no place in modern life.

4. He is slow to make any kind of commitment. It took you years to get him to move in with you. You struggled to get him to even commit to dating you exclusively. If he appears to be afraid of commitment, he probably won’t be popping the question any time soon.

5. He always tells you that he is happy with the way things are. And feels that there is no need to prove to anyone that he loves you by putting together a big and expensive party (wedding).

6. He gives you a million reasons why the institution of marriage is dying out by pointing out married couples that are now divorced.

Pretty obvious signs, yet, often ignored! Save yourself the time and deep-rooted heartache (by allowing time and feelings to accumulate)- pay attention to red flags, address them head on, and if you aren’t happy with it, move on!

In the meantime…
