Through The Windows

We are all quite familiar with the saying when one door closes another one opens. There’s several variations of the concept behind this quote, one of my favorites being when one door closes go through the open window. To me, this simply states that maybe the method or pathway we were planning to use towards our destination does not work, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t for you, there’s just another way to go about it.  My pathway to success will not be the same as yours; that is impossible because we are all born unique with a unique purpose. It is possible to end up at the same place but our method to get there will be totally different.

I think this is particularly important to remember when looking at the greener grass on the other side of the fence; instead of being GREEN with envy (pun intended) that your success does not seemingly equal to the next man’s, realize that there may be an unconventional method to reach your goals. Your opportunity may not always knock at the door, and you may not have the key to open it, but instead, look up to where all your help comes, you will find an open window for you to go through.

I met a young man who wanted to start his own business so he sought the advice of his boss/mentor who was a profound scholar and he suggested all these wonderful steps to take so that he could advance his career; the only problem was the young man’s mentor gave advice based on his own life story, and the young man grew discouraged. He was discouraged because he wasn’t as financially privileged as his mentor was; he didn’t have a master’s degree; he didn’t have the support available to him to uplift him through the rough start-up of a company; and essentially, he saw the door to owning his own company close in his face. He prayed and soul-searched and meditated on what he really wanted out of life and decided to not give up on his dream, so he moved back in with his parents to save money so that his paychecks could go towards the start-up costs of his company. In the span of a year he saved lots of money, freelanced in the field he wanted to advance his career in to build his portfolio, and he attended workshops and training classes here and there in his field. One day at a workshop he met a major sponsor who chose to not only cover all his business start-up costs, but also sent him several referrals that he turned into his A-list clients; from them he was able to earn an income of 1.5 million dollars in the first year he started his company. This young man lived through the quote when one door closes, go through the window. His pathway to success was far different than his mentors but he didn’t give up and think the grass was greener on the other side, instead he traveled his own path and found his own success; the icing on the cake- his mentor is now a client of his!

Never give up on yourself; go through the windows!

Be Blessed
