Economical Christmas Gifts
Ok so with the recession and all, many people are scaling back on expensive gifts for Christmas and opting for more sentimental heartfelt gifts. I have listed my top 5 economical yet sentimental/heartfelt gift ideas for Christmas (or any other special day).
Homemade Goodies – you can bake (their/your) favorite cookies. Wrap them in plastic and place in a nice basket. For children you can add a small monetary gift like a $10 I-Tunes gift card or $25 pre paid Visa. For adults you can add a nice bottle of wine. Speaking of wine you can personalize your own wine as a gift at www.customwinesource.com.
Treasure Box – you can purchase a premade treasure box from stores like Hobby Lobby and Michaels fairly cheap. Decorate the box to your liking, and since everyone has treasure they can store (i.e. jewelry, keys, money, receipts, etc) it is sure to be a good gift. Because you have put your time and energy into creating this gift, its sure to be a hit!
Collage – Create a collage of your favorite pictures and frame it. This would be a great gift to give to siblings, parents, and friends.
Jar of Appreciation – Take an empty jar and label it “Jar of Appreciation” with construction paper. Write the tokens of appreciation on paper and place in jar. The person will open the jar to many things you appreciate about them (i.e. I appreciate you always allowing me to wash clothes, I appreciate all the times you have listened to me cry and complain about my ex, I appreciate money you loaned when I was in need, I appreciate the home cooked meals you make every Sunday, etc.) Try to get as personal as possible and stay away from general thanks like I appreciate you for all you do – try listing the “all you do’s”.
Favorite Inspiration Poem Framed – this is a nice gift to give anyone. We can all use an inspirational poem from time to time.
Note: To make the gifts even more personalized, try decorating the picture frames yourself. A few other gifts I like (that didn’t make the top five) were: an inspirational/Christian book or novel, a personalized journal, pot of positive thoughts (get a nice pot and write words such as “Love”, “Peace”, “Laughter”, “Always”, “Smile” and “Hope” on the stones), movie gift certificates, gas card, and disposable camera so they can capture that “Kodak” moment!
Enjoy your Holidays! Until next time…
Be Blessed
