My Life as a Wife
Last week we had an impromptu game night at our house with a few other couples. We laughed, ate, and competed against one another. We even had a battle of the sexes where of course the ladies SHUT THEM DOWN!! We played Spoons (an old family game) and Partini. Partini is 5 games in 1, very fun and a good investment if you enjoy entertaining. Over all this was a very fun and relaxing night. As I went to bed that night, I literally wondered when the last time I had laughed and just enjoyed myself so freely; I couldn’t remember. Rob said he had a good time and we should do this more often.
So as I continue this journey, I realize as much as we push ourselves to work hard and succeed, sometimes its best to stop and have a little fun. Just bask in the moment. Don’t think about what we have to do tomorrow, what we have to do at work Monday, folding the clothes, returning the email, etc. Its not only relaxing and fun for us, its needed for a healthy spiritual and physical well being. Studies have shown that laughter can decrease blood pressure and also stress. With the constant going and striving in life sometimes fun can be put on the back burner creating a dry tension. Laughter can break the tension and lighten the mood.
Since Rob and I have conflicting schedules we have decided that the time we do have together (be it 10 minutes or 3 hours) will be just that, our time TOGETHER! We will cut phones off and just enjoy each others company. Whether its watching the last ten minutes of the news or going to a restaurant, it will be our time to focus on one another and not worry about tomorrow. Not only is tomorrow not promised, tomorrow will take care of itself. As we approach the end of the year and what can be a stressful yet enjoyable season, take time to enjoy the moment because once its gone, you’ll never get it back. Continue this journey with me and check out Gossipers Single & The City. Until next time…
