Thankful
It’s a common practice to say “thank you” when someone does something nice for you; matter of fact it’s proper etiquette and common courtesy. Being thankful is something we must practice in life. It’s the act of humbling ourselves and not taking things for granted. Everyday we should show how we are thankful, not just on Thanksgiving. Life is so precious, along with time; neither one can be reversed. While Thanksgiving should not be the only time we express this form of gratitude, it is a time where we reflect on all the things we are thankful of and for.
I give thanks for:
- My mother & the support she gives me
- My family. Even though I used to complain about how small my immediate family is, the love we share is huge.
- Friends. My extended family. The sisters and brothers I never had.
- My talents & gifts. They are the fuel to my passions in life and ultimately my “money-maker.” But even if they never make me another dime I thoroughly enjoy event planning, marketing, public relations, writing, dancing, creative design, and editing.
- The ups & downs that we call trials & tribulations. We go through tough times to receive a blessing in the lesson. It builds strength and character, and in the end brings us closer to the one who sees us through every time: GOD.
- Going away to school (Langston University). Never would I imagine I would’ve left California.
- Making the ridiculous decision to move to Dallas after graduation. I was so ill-prepared for this thing called the Real World, but it gave me a crash course in living; which some people are still trying to figure out how to do.
- Losing friends, people, and things that I cared about. It made way for new growth & understanding. I also learned how to cherish things of the present without the expectation of them being there in the future.
That’s all I can think of for now; I’m sure I could go on and on!
Please tell me one thing you are thankful for!
Happy Thanksgiving
Be Blessed
