You Better Recognize!
As I wrapped up my last project in the latest class of my MBA program I sighed a great sigh of relief! My 6-week leave now begins! But I’m not ashamed to say that it may be an extended break. I racked my brain on how I would explain to friends, family, and anyone else that I want to take an indefinite leave from school until I get more settled in life… I’ve always been a people-pleaser and conscience of what people thought of me. From that, it has led me to be my biggest competition, worst critic, and self-analyzing spectator. However, after praying, listening (to God), and thinking, I realized I need to make decisions that are in MY best interest. What someone does for themselves is not always the best option for me. We are all here for a different purpose and that purpose leads us on different pathways. My road to success won’t and can’t be the same as yours. No longer can I live and base my decisions off the acceptance of others. The approval of others; the advice and opinion of others; those things are not always needed. At times it’s helpful, but at other times it’s just a distraction from what your calling really is in life.
Recognize who you are living for. Is it for your teachers? Is it for your mom? Are you living for your friends? Or perhaps your sister? Recognize who you are living for; because it ought to be for yourself and God. God predetermines your mission and it’s up to you to accept it and fulfill it; the opinion and acceptance of others matter not. Recognize who YOU are, what YOU are to do, and who YOU are to do it for.
