My Life as a Wife

So as I continue this journey I realize that for the past 26 years I have done things one way while for the past 29 Rob have done them another way. We have to give one another the benefit of the doubt and continue to openly communicate. When I took my vows this summer for some reason I assumed Rob and I would magically fuse together and mystically become one! Become one in everything, finances, hobbies, kids, sports etc, BUT how many people have heard that men are from Mars and women are from Venus?! (Jumping up and down waving both hands shouting I HAVE I HAVE!!)

The fact is, although we are one in the eye of God, we are different beings with different make up. Men and women think and react differently. I tend to be more emotional (as most women) while Rob is more analytical and realistic (as most men), BUT this is not a bad thing. It gives us balance. I balance him while he balances me. I usually want things immediately when I decide I want/need it, while Rob thinks about it and is more patient when it comes to his wants and needs. Again it’s another balancing and compromising situation that’s usually best for both of us.

I am learning that we have to give one another the benefit of the doubt. True enough we became “one” in June, but it’s going to take many days, months, and years to become “one” in every situation. Things as minor as putting toilet tissue up and over or down and under is preference; I may like it one way while Rob likes it another. We a have been by ourselves for 20-something years, doing things our way, it’s only natural that we understand that benefit of the doubt is a must. I believe Rob would not do anything to deliberately hurt me so if there is something I am offended by, I try to give the benefit of the doubt and look at it as a misunderstanding, etc. I also try to do this in my friendships and partnerships because I am not perfect and I would expect the same. Continue following me on My Life as a Wife journey and don’t forget to check out Gossiper’s Singe & The City latest installment. Until Next Time…

Be Blessed
