Pick Your Battles

Anyone who knows me know that I would argue my case to no end, ESPECIALLY if I KNEW I was right!! I mean I would go the extra mile to prove my point especially if I was passionate about the subject. Although I have/had a strong and outgoing personality, I recently had to take a step back and reassess what’s important. Every little thing, to be honest, doesn’t deserve my attention. I have learned to pick my battles. With so much going on in life, it is easy to become consumed with non productive spats. Entertaining the latest gossip, arguing your case at work, at home, with your friends, is draining and negative. It serves no purpose.

My grandmother used to say, “Pick your battles young lady; don’t exert energy on things that don’t matter”. I now understand what she meant and am taking her advice. I have decided that if I am not arguing a case for a positive outcome or a passionate cause, I am not entertaining it. If it does nothing to bring glory and honor to God’s name, I am not entertaining it. If it compromises my joy and happiness, I simply won’t entertain it! As I grow, I learn that life is all about choices. We have the power to choose what we engage in and what we deem worthy of our attention. The next time you find yourself wrapped up in a minute discussion with someone you wouldn’t normally give the time of day, step back and ask yourself is this conversation important? Pick your battles, ultimately the battle is the Lords, allow him to fight it. Until next time…

Be Blessed
