Dead End Street
At church today, the Reverend spoke on the topic of “Victory at a Dead End Street,” and he preached on the fact that if you aren’t being obedient to His word you won’t get to victory. It made me think of all of us out there who have yet to see our blessings or reach our breakthrough because we simply haven’t been obedient. Obedience isn’t always as cut-and-dry as we may assume either; it’s more than reading your Bible, praying before bedtime, tithing, and going to church every Sunday. The Bible is life’s instruction manual, but there’s work to be done once you close that manual. Tithes & offering are not just given in the monetary sense. You can offer up your time by being active in church. You also don’t have to attend church every Sunday, out of every month of every year to have a relationship with God; and just because you do go to church every week doesn’t mean you have a relationship with God either. However, you do need to attend church. A church atmosphere manifests God’s spirit in your heart, refreshes the soul through praise and worship, and allows you to hear the spoken word.
Sometimes we may wonder why can’t I get a break? I been praying & praying, crying & crying… but God wants you near Him. He is calling for you! If you’ve done all you can do, think of what you haven’t done. God doesn’t take excuses. He never gives them to you every time you call Him, and I’m pretty sure He sees them as tools of incompetency, and by giving excuses of why you can’t go to church; can’t pray; can’t devote your time, indeed you are building your life upon monuments of nothing.
There’s victory at the end of the road, if you follow the pathway of obedience there’s no way you won’t get to that victory. God will never leave us but there’s work to be done on our behalf. Are you doing the work? It’s hard work, I know (trust me I know!), but it must be done in order to see the riches of His glory.
Speaking of “roads”:
The Road to Success is not straight: There is a curve called failure, a loop called confusion, speed bumps called friends, caution lights called family, and you will have flats called jobs. But, if you have a spare called determination, an engine called perseverance, insurance called faith, and a driver called God, you will make it to a place called success!
Be Blessed…Be faithful… Be OBEDIENT…
