Expecting the Unexpected

So this morning as I awoke for my day I must admit I was in a very good mood. For once in a long time I was actually up early. Took a shower, got dressed, kissed my hubby goodbye (as he slept) and headed to the garage. Ok going good so far…well I get in my 2 year old lease and it wouldn’t start. Wouldn’t do ANYTHING!! I woke up Rob who then called AAA…I’m thinking ok AAA will be here to fix it, no problem. As it turns out due to some miscommunication the AAA was discontinued in May…dun dun dun!! So Rob jumps my car and we take it to Auto Zone. Needless to say I had to get a new battery which was $105 and missed half a day of work.

As I came into the house I began thinking…what do you do when your path is detoured. Now granted jumping a car and getting a new battery is by no means a MAJOR detour but as some point in our life our path has/will be detoured. I thought about Mary mother of Jesus. Just imagine you have met the love of your life, he has FINALLY proposed and set a date then BAM you’re pregnant!! You know its not your fiancés because you are a virgin practicing celibacy and you KNOW you haven’t been with anyone else. How do you tell him? How would he react? How would the community respond? Those are all questions I am sure went through the young virgin Mary’s mind.

With saying all this, I say prepare and trust God. Be prepared as in have a little money stashed away for a rainy day and then trust that God will be the only source you need. I was thinking this is $105 I wasn’t prepared to pay today however I serve a higher power that holds everything in His hands. I assume Mary thought “why me?” and at some point she questioned God’s choice in choosing her. She may have wanted to give the blessing/curse (depending on how you look at it at the time) back. But since she and Joseph had a personal relationship with God she knew everything would work out with her, Jesus, and Joseph and it did. Although Jesus was the son of God the Bible tells us Joseph raised him as if he were his own son.

Whatever it is you may be going through be it big or small know that God is your source for EVERYTHING (kids, husband, school, job, money, friends, ministry etc). Trust Him to take care of you in every situation and detour your life takes. Remember whatever you are going through – you are meant to go through. Like the saying goes “If He’ll bring you to it, He’ll bring you THROUGH it”. It is all apart of His plan. His ways are not ours and ultimately it is His Will we strive to serve. Until next time…

Be Blessed
