Job Hunting Tips
Hello All – as many of you know I currently work in HR. I have just a few tips to share that can make a big difference when trying to land a job.
*Have a standard professional email account. They are free from Yahoo!, Google, Hotmail. I say professional because many recruiters get turned off if you don’t have a professional email or a professional representation of yourself. First and last name @ ___ is recommended. Or first initial and last name but please avoid nicknames with your zip code or other numbers. It get to be a little confusing especially considering email is usually the first point of contact.
*Have a professional voice mail, again with first and last name or the telephone number. PLEASE avoid music on voicemails when you are job searching. It is a turn off!! Definitely don’t have secular music but don’t even have jazz or Mozart. Its not professional.
*And lastly – on interview days arrive AT least 15 minutes early, have an extra copy of your resume ON resume paper (and is industry specific), and be dressed professionally. For the first interview it is a good rule of thumb to wear a dark colored dress or skirt. In today’s society you can get away with a pants suit.
Hope this helps

Good tips. I may need to change my email. It is not ghetto or anything, but it does have numbers in it and I can understand how that can get confusing if you accidentally put in the wrong number and get an undevilerable message.
