The Secret!
So some co workers of mine were discussing “The Secret” as advertised on the Oprah show. A little more than a year ago I watched the video with some people from church. I never purchased the book and had only heard little about it before seeing the film. I didn’t like how they gave credit to the Universe and not GOD but I understand they are not religious leaders and are trying to appear politically correct. I did however, agree with it’s over all message. I was in an awe of amazement because at that point it made sense to me. The secret is the Law of Attraction. From the clothes we wear to the friends we have – we were attracted to them in some form. Same goes for the future. We can have what we want! Its that simple. But, we have to align ourselves with 1. God’s word and 2. with the attraction. It point out that when we make up in our mind we want to accomplish something whether its start a business, get married or save money, we subconsciously move that thought to the front of our mind and mentally we begin to see it unfolding. While it is unfolding, we are making steps, decisions, and surrounding ourselves around others that can help get us there. Take a person who wants to be a singer. They may have a little job right now to foot the bills but their every waking minute is thinking about singing. They sign up for shows, meet with producers and managers, write music and record songs so that they are prepared for that hopeful day. Very seldom do we hear about someone walking through the store humming and getting signed. It’s all about planning. A quote I like is “if you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail” and it is very true. Just think about the last test you have taken, you planned for the date and prepared for the material covered.
The Secret goes on to say that we can control our lives. We first have to determine what it is we want. See it in our mind. Kanye West says “…before I had it, I closed my eyes and imagined”. I LOVE that quote because it IS so very true. Just look at G.O.S.S.I.P. Sister. I had the vision first and then started aligning myself and partnering with the people who believed in it and were able to help me see it through fruition. It is so important to associate yourself with beings that are moving in the same direction as you. It doesn’t have to be the SAME industry but just moving in the positive direction you are aiming to be. My partner Gossiper has Simply Classic Productions and I have Like Minds. We specialize in different events and publications BUT we share the common goal of spreading God’s good love and increasing the positivity among all women, especially Christian women. Though it isn’t right, we are often judged by the people we surround ourselves with. If you haven’t had a chance to read the book or haven’t even heard about it – I am sure you can rent it from your local movie rental venue. Its worth watching with an open mind remembering in the end GOD is assisting us and not the universe. Until next time…

I heard a lot about this book/DVD, from Oprah also. Maybe I’ll check it out at the library because of your recommendation. Like you, I didn’t like the “universe” theme, which is a major reason I never paid much attention to the book. Plus, I just thought I already understood the theme of the book. Since I’ve already read the ‘Purpose Driven Life’ I thought it would just be more of the same, but without giving credit to God. But, I’ll check it out (still hoping its a quick read, though)
