The Power of Positivity

The power of positivity is like energy- it transfers from one entity to the next.  The power of negativity works just the same- as a transfer of emotion.  I’m learning it’s so important to surround yourself with positive people and things because it weighs heavily on your train of thought, energy, and well-being.  Think about it- what does negativity, negative people, or negative situations do to you? It drains your energy!  When I know I’m going to be around a typically negative person- someone who always have something smart to say, someone who always has the negative point-of-view, someone who thrives off demeaning people- I have to mentally prepare myself to be around them; and that’s draining! It’s not fun to thrive off of negativity so I’ve decided to cut the negativity!  By doing so, I have constructed a “Corner of Positivity” in my room that has posts of motivational passages, scriptures, and uplifting quotes.  I love to stay in the know of celebrity news, but I avoid going to blog sites that run someone’s name in the mud and dictate every little thing they do, because it’s transferring negative energy even through the computer about people you may not even know personally; but it’s all a train of thought, I am training myself to stay positive.  By being around negativity we will unknowingly become a negative person and negativity becomes part of who we are; so therefore surround yourself with positivity and naturally your actions will be more positive.  I urge you to cut out whatever or whoever is holding you down in life, brings the drama, cast stones, and cooks up negativity and feasts off of it.  Be mindful of what you take in and allow to stay in, and in turn, what you begin to radiate out.  If you notice you are radiating negative thoughts, statements, and actions then you probably should step back and look into what you need to do to change that- most likely there will be something you need to cut out of your life so you can maintain a positive energy.

There’s so much going on in the world today: we are going through a recession, the economy is jacked up, times are hard, and on top of all that, we all have our individual trials to go through; but look up and beyond the negativity to find the positive.  One of the passages I have posted in my “Corner of Positivity” from Ed Young Ministries says “when you are faced with negativity, don’t contribute to the problem. Instead, be part of the cure. Make looking up a part of your daily routine and discover how God can prevent the spread of the disease (negativity).”

Be Blessed (and stay positive)
