SPRING CLEANING!
Hello Ladies -
I can hardly believe we are in March 2009!! This year is speeding past and I am preparing to move. This weekend I pulled out EVERYTHING from my drawers and closet (I probably shouldn’t have done it that way, but…). It will be 2 years I have lived in this apartment in April. I was amazed at the amount of stuff I had accumulated. As I began to go through all the items it was a bit overwhelming. I made a keep pile, toss pile, and donate pile (one mans trash is another mans treasure). It was SO refreshing to toss some of the old baggage and STUFF I no longer need. I found that it was not only refreshing but somewhat therapeutic!
I mean I had letters from old boyfriend; I don’t need those. If it is over, it is OVER! No need to hold on to the past. Clothes that I could fit years ago; truth be told, if I could still fit them I probably wouldn’t wear them anyway because they are old and out dated…time to toss or donate. While sitting there folding and packing I begin to think about my life and what direction it is going in. I thought about where I wanted to go in life and realized I can’t go forward IF I am still holding on to the past or looking back. It made me think about Lot’s wife. GOD sent his angels down to save Lot, his wife, and their two daughters from being destroyed along with Sodom and Gomorrah. The angels instructed them to “run and not look back”. Lots wife looked back and instantly became a pillar of salt. It wasn’t the physical looking back that was the sin; it was the longing and emotional attachment of things she was leaving behind. God had land and blessing waiting for them and yet, she opts to dwell on her past. During my spring cleaning I too, decided to press toward the mark as the WORD instructs us, and leave the past behind. With this new move, I am only taking things that matter and can be a benefit. I don’t have to hold on to EVERYTHING I have ever received in life, its draining carrying all that stuff from one place to another, it takes up room, and ultimately becomes clutter. No one wants to be around clutter or have a cluttered mind. Again it’s too draining. So, with that being said, I encourage you all to do a little spring cleaning in your life. Clean up your friends, you know certain friends aren’t going to allow you to reach your full potential or can be a burden more than help, TOSS THEM! Habits, it they don’t benefit you, TOSS IT! Clothes, if you can’t wear it or DON’T wear it, toss or donate. You will feel so much better as you get rid of clutter, junk, and just stuff from your life. It can hurt more than help. It isn’t needed and doesn’t have a purpose. Challenge yourself to really think about what you need right now in your life and donate some of your things to a good cause or charity and throw out the past!
Be Blessed

Amazing parallel to the story about Lot’s wife. While reading this article I had two thoughts; both thoughts from a natural and spiritual point of view. Naturally, one knows that it is important to keep a life that is uncluttered and free of worry and people or things that dreain you. On the same note, when God is pulling you towards the future you should allow Him to relieve you from those past hearts and spiritual heartaches. Lot’s wife was searching for that which her spirt use to be familliar with and all the while God was trying to show her and her family something new. We have to learn to TRUEST God and that is what Lot’s wife had a problem doing. The Bible tells us when we become saved we become new creatures in Him, and those old things (sins) pass away. So I took this as a good lesson to see what happens when you try to keep holding on to those things that God is carrying you away from….How can we be any good to ourselves and family and most of all God if we are full of clutter and spiritual weights.

PREACH!!!
Amazing analogy to Lot’s wife…for real!
Wow. I am immediately thinking about everything and anything that I may still have from old boyfriends. Why are these things still around? And clothes? We’re all guilty of “one-day-I-will-wear-it” thinking. While I’m waiting for one day, someone could be wearing it now!
This morning i read a portion on Watchman Nee’s “The Spiritial Man” (amazing book). In it he spoke about the willingness to die to self and to lose our self in this life is to gain a much greater life in God.
How awesome could our lives be if we did spring cleaning in each moment; gauging what is good and meaningful and important for drawing us closer to God. After all, that really is the only thing that matters.
Still reading.
